Rees family welcomes baby girl Lucille

Jared and Kasey Rees of Columbus Junction became the proud parents of a baby girl, Lucille "Lucy" Romelle at 10:22 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Lucy weighed in at 5 lbs. 3 oz. and was 19 inches long. She was welcomed home by brother's, Khayden, 9 years and Jake, 1 1/2 years.

Grandparents are Linda and Dean Timmins of Washington, Rick Lintz and Julie Pettit of Crawfordsville and Jim and Melinda Rees of Columbus Jct. Great-grandparents are Delbert and Sandra Rees and Midge Craven, all of Columbus Jct.

WEDNESDAY STUDY CLUB

Seven members of the Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met at the home of Ruth Erwin on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 2 p.m. Present were Debbie Lowe, Clarissa Malmberg, Pauline Richardson, Joyce Roth, Janice Twinam, Cathy Williams, guest, Phyllis Eisele and the hostess, Ruth.

Following a brief business meeting, Ruth shared an article from the Country Ranch column in Iowa Farmer Today entitled "Toys of summer bring back memories" by Arvid Hulsmanm. The group then shared memories of the games they had played while growing up.

Members shared books they had recently read or are currently reading. Books were displayed for anyone to take and read.

Janice brought with her the historical scrapbooks, program booklets and minutes of this study club. The group enjoyed looking through the items and learning some history of the club.

Delicious refreshments were served by Ruth as everyone enjoyed socializing with one another.

The next meeting will be May 17, 2023 with Janice as hostess.

CHURCH RELATED ITEMS

The Membership and Mission Committee is sponsoring the Senior Recognition Sunday on Sunday, May 7. The seniors will be recognized during worship and a reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

The Committee is also making plans for a Fish Fry on Sunday, June 4 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. This will be dine in or carry-out and it will be a free-will offering.
