Registration deadline nears for Scenic Drive Festival run

KEOSAUQUA ? The seventh annual Lacey-Keosauqua fall run and trail walk is set for Oct. 13 during the Villages of Van Buren Scenic Drive Festival.

The event will be at 9 a.m. at the Lacey-Keosauqua State Park Lodge.

For the 5K race, runners will follow a difficult path racing past Ely Ford and up the challenging 1-mile hill toward the campgrounds to the turnaround point.

The 10K runners will continue toward the campgrounds where they will turn right for a much-needed flat surface to the turnaround at the cabins near Lake Sugema.

Organizer Heather Charbonneau said the Lacey-Keosauqua fall run and trail walk offers the landscape of one of the most beautiful parks in Iowa.

For registration, download a form at www.fitnesssports.com or www.keosauqua.com. All pre-registration forms must be received by Wednesday.

Race day registration is available.

The first 60 participants will receive a long-sleeved shirt with their paid registration.
