‘Come to Breakfast' starting at First Lutheran
Noticing the need for a good breakfast to start the day, First Lutheran Church will begin a 'Come to Breakfast” program July 8.
The program will begin by serving breakfast from 8-9 a.m. on the second Monday of the month, but if there is a need, more dates will be added to the schedule.
'Come to Breakfast” is in addition to 'Come to Supper.” No changes are planned for the 'Come to Supper” meals served 6-7 p.m. on Tuesdays at First Lutheran.
Word of Life hosting vacation Bible school
Word of Life Lutheran Church will have vacation Bible school from 5:30-8 p.m. July 15-19.
'All God's Creatures, Great and Small!” is offered to children ages 3 through sixth-grade.
A light supper will be served each evening. Offerings for The Lord's Cupboard will be taken each night.
Registration forms are available at the church's website: www.wordoflifelc.com. The forms should be returned by July 10 to Word of Life Lutheran Church, 2092 Libertyville Road, Fairfield 52556.
First Christian Church events postponed
The church potluck barbecue and Johnny Clock Museum tour set for Sunday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) have been canceled due to the death of Leo Brokken, husband of paster Dianne Brokken.
Plans are for the barbecue to be rescheduled some time in August.
Bible Reading Marathon finale Sunday in Keosauqua
KEOSAUQUA - Bible readers in Van Buren County churches have been participating in the fourth annual Bible Reading Marathon during the month of June, which will culminate at a celebration finale at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Van Buren County Courthouse gazebo in Keosauqua.
The celebration is free and open to the public. Participants should bring their own Bible, lawn chair and a bottle of water.
The celebration includes sharing stories about what the Lord is doing, hearing the last four chapters of Revelation, and encouraging words from Greg Baker, vice president of church engagement, The Family Leader. The event concludes with ice cream.
Trenton United Methodist anniversary celebration concert series continues Sunday
TRENTON - The congregation of Trenton United Methodist is celebrating its 125th anniversary during 2019 with a series of concerts; Sheltered Reality will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Since its founding in 1996, Sheltered Reality has used music and education to reach out to audiences to motivate and encourage. The presenters share real life stories to inspire character and ideas for action, along with drums in an innovative combination of music, high-energy choreographed percussion routines, and special effects. Sheltered Reality has performed at countless fairs, schools, churches, and conferences throughout the Midwest. The presentations are for young and old alike.
Before the concert, a supper will be served at 5:30 p.m.
A free will offering will be collected to support the presenters. Everyone is welcome to attend.
