Service Sunday at New Sweden Lutheran
LOCKRIDGE - Worship, led by the Rev. Gloria Friedrich, pastor of First Augustana Lutheran Church, ELCA, will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at New Sweden Lutheran Church.
Worship is held at the New Sweden Lutheran Church twice yearly: the first Sunday of June and the second Sunday of September. Everyone is invited to attend. The congregation of First Augustana will be worshipping at the New Sweden church Sunday.
The church was established in 1848 by a group of Swedish people led by Peter Cassel. It was the First Lutheran Church established west of the Mississippi River.
The New Sweden Chapel, listed with the National Historical Society, closed in 1948 and First Augustana Lutheran Church of Lockridge was appointed as caretaker and overseer.
Gamma Circle meeting Thursday
The Gamma Circle of First Presbyterian Church will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at SunnyBrook Assisted Living.
Vera Young will be hostess.
Fern Sprouse will have devotions.
Sandy Gillaspie will be the Lesson 6 leader.
Memorial gospel sing Saturday
MILTON -- The fifth annual Sharon Norton Memorial Gospel Sing will be 1-6 pm. Saturday at Grace Community Center/Milton Methodist Church.
Bring a covered dish to share.
