Service at New Sweden Lutheran Sunday
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at New Sweden Lutheran Chapel.
The church is located west of Four Corners on 195th Street near Lockridge.
The service will be led by the Rev. Gloria Friedrich.
Everyone is invited to attend.
The church was closed in 1948, and services are only held there two times a year: the first Sunday in June and the second Sunday in September.
The church is owned by First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge. No service will be held at First Augustana Sunday.
St. James Parish Fall Festival Sunday
St. James Parish is holding its annual Fall Festival Sunday, Sept. 8, at the KC Hall in Washington.
The harvest dinner begins at 11 a.m. and lasts until 1 p.m.
A country store will open at 9 a.m.
Kids games are planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
An auction begins at 12:30 p.m.
All proceeds support St. James Catholic School.
Free financial series at Hope Lutheran
BRIGHTON - The first in a series of free seminars that will help participants be wiser with money will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Hope Lutheran Church in rural Brighton.
This session will reveal what people really need to know before the last paycheck before retirement.
After a complimentary dinner, session two discussion will be about how preparing for retirement could affect income taxes.
