The Iowa School Report Card is a new system to show how each public school is performing on certain educational measures. Schools receive a score for each measure, and then the scores are combined into an overall score. Based on the overall score, one of the following ratings is assigned to each school: Exceptional, High-Performing, Commendable, Acceptable, Needs Improvement and Priority. The Iowa School Report Card can help Iowans stay informed and can enhance conversations about their schools? strengths and challenges. The Iowa Department of Education developed the rating system in response to a 2013 legislative requirement (House File 215).
WACO Community Junior High /High School received recognition as High Performing. This designation lands WACO in the top 10 percent of High Schools in the state of Iowa.
?I could not be more proud of my staff and students here at WACO Secondary School. It just goes to show the commitment that our students and staff have towards learning.,? said Jeff Nance, Secondary Principal at WACO.
WACO offers students many different opportunities to learn and sustain learning through its +1 program and other educational initiatives.
?I know we are graded on many criteria and we have some things to work on to get better, but this is a testament to our community that we are headed in the right direction. We will continue to strive to be the best we can be for our school and community, and our goal is to be in the top three percent of secondary schools in the state. I?m very proud to be a Warrior,? Nance continued.
