J40 Farm Crawl
Carolyn Love, Betsy and Preston Lasek joined Sonya Love-Smith, Audrey Smith, Kenny Kruse, Tyler, Maggie, Kinsley and Noah Robertson in Keosauqua, Saturday, Aug. 13 for the 13th Annual J40 Farm Crawl.
The morning began with breakfast at the Amish School in Lebanon. From there they went to Lengacher's Greenhouse to tour the greenhouses and fields filled with flowers and vegetable plants and enjoy horse drawn wagon rides. Following that they went to Bloom and Bark Farm to watch glass blowing demonstrations and visit the local Artisan Market featuring 13 artists, within the area.
Several in the group drove to Milton to visit the Hamilton Creamery and purchase cheese curds. While there one can sample award winning cheeses. Milk from the local Amish and Mennonite farms is used to make the world recognized Prairie Breeze Cheese made exclusively at this small local cheese factory. All cheeses are hand-crafted.
They then returned to Sonya's for a barbecue and lunch!
Lowe Family Reunion

Attending were members of the Lyle Lowe family: Phyllis Eisele of Washington, IA; Mary Fabian of Iowa City; Linda and Gene Alvine of Loveland, CO; Members of the Cleo and Arlene Lowe Fletcher family: Larry and Donna Fletcher of Crawfordsville and Mick and Kathy Garris of Winfield; members of the Earl and Ina Mae Lowe family: Wayne and Debbie Lowe and Adrian Brisky, all of Crawfordsville and members of the Cleo and Betty Lowe McCoy family: Robyn and Bob Lamb of Washington, IA, Lorna Wind of Iowa City and Craig and Karen McCoy of Crawfordsville.
Phyllis Eisele shared some history of the Lowe family with others present. Her grandparents came to Iowa from Surrey, Illinois, by covered wagon to Winfield, Iowa, in 1909. They later moved to Marsh, Iowa, and lived there until 1919, when they moved north of Crawfordsville to the farm now occupied by Steve and Pam Davis.
