This week we celebrate the second part of the basis for our faith and the hope that we can have in the Lord Jesus Christ. The first was when He came into the world as a babe and began His life and ministry here on earth. This is the second part, where He died on the Cross to pay the penalty for the sins of mankind. But He not only died to pay the penalty for our sins, He arose from the grave in newness of life to show His victory over death and the giving of life that we each one can have through Him.
Practically every human being asks the question: ?What is going to happen to me after death?? People in different cultures and religions have different answers to this question, but the Christian is the most unique. Christianity is the only one whose founder died and rose from the dead to answer the question about what happens after death. Because Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead, and lives forever, we who believe in Him also believe we will live forever with Him after death.
Jesus Christ became the first person to be resurrected, never to die again. Before this a few people had been brought from death to life, but all had to die again. Like the first produce of a harvest precedes and gives promise of the entire harvest that follows, Jesus? resurrection was the first fruit of the resurrection to everlasting life of all who believe (put their faith and trust) in Him. Jesus spoke of Himself when He said, ?I am the resurrection and the life.? By His resurrection from death, and by His promise that we will be resurrected, Christ has shown that death is not the end of our personal existence.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the promise and the blessed assurance to us that He has won the victory over Satan, over all the forces of evil and over death. Death will be destroyed, done away with completely. THEN the Scripture will be fulfilled, ?there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." No more death! What a glorious future we have in everlasting fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ! Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly. This is why we celebrate resurrection morning.
Do you know Him in a real and personal way? If not, I would be glad to introduce Him to you. Thank you and may God?s blessing be yours.
