Reunion of John Shalla descendants held

Descendants of John and Mary (Novy) Shalla held their reunion Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Kalona City Park. The event began with a potluck dinner.

Those present introduced themselves and gave an update of events in their families since 2019, when the last reunion was held due to COVID. Diana Cox shared a list of family members who had passed away since the last gathering. Notes from those who couldn’t attend were also shared.

Attending were: Brittany Mary Jones, Cindy Wellington, Susan Kretschmar and Roger and Mary Altenhofen of Washington; Rob, Heather and Aubrianna Cox, Diane Kron, Jane Smutz and John Duwa of Kalona; Terry and Suzie Duwa of Lone Tree; Mary Lou Richenberger of Wayland; Ralph and Diana Cox of Iowa City.
