Rotenburger/Bopp family
Descendants of George and Catherine Rotenburger gathered for their annual reunion on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Dennis and Irma Altenhofen barn.
The day began with a potluck dinner. Guests attending introduced their family members. Families gathered for group pictures before viewing slides of ancestors and previous vacations shown by Dennis Altenhofen.
Two displays were of special interest. One was a doll wearing a dress made from the wedding dress worn by Agnes Bopp Duwa. The doll dress was made by Suzie Duwa. In addition, a mannikan displayed the World War I uniform worn by Lawrence 'Doc” Duwa. The uniform was discovered at an antique shop and had a note in the pocket with Doc's name on it.
Those attending this year's reunion were Dennis and Irma Altenhofen of Richmond; Josh and Tammy Jo Hesseltine of Crawfordsville; Crystal, Donna, Joe, Denise and Austin Fanatia, Azrial Lycke, Robert, Heather and Aubrianna Cox of Kalona; Kimberely Durham, Leroy and Lucille Duwa, Rollie and Carolyn Rourke, Ralph and Diana Cox, Delores Krotz of Iowa City; Jane Gatlin of Riverside; Travis Rotenurger and Katrina Surly of Coralville; Martha Hammen, Duane Hammen, Jackie Ross, Kayla Fanatia and Merle and Janet Hagie of Washington; LeRoy and Joan Bopp of Cedar Rapids; Larry and Judy Rotenburger of Mexico, Missouri.

Descendants of John Shalla/Skalla/Sala held their annual reunion at the Methodist church in Riverside on Aug. 26, 2018.
The host was Mary Lou Richenberger.
Everyone enjoyed a potluck dinner.
Those present included Mary Lou Richenberger, Wayland; Kenny and Jan Riggan and Jim and Barb Munday, Riverside; Marie Shalla, Laura Vogel, Diane Kron and Rob, Heather and Aubrianna Cox, Kalona; Gary and Linda Pribyl, Fairfaix; Bill Neal, Darlene Shalla and Ralph and Diana Cox, Iowa City; Cindy Wellington, Washington; Lowell and Helen Baker and Terry and Susie Duwa, Lone Tree.
The 2019 reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 25.
Army Reserve 495th Engineer/389th Engineer
The 495th Engineer and 389th Engineer units of the Army Reserve will have a reunion Saturday, Sept. 7, in Mt. Pleasant.
