Rickie J. Brooks, 64, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Rickie was born on October 15, 1954, in Peoria, Illinois the son of Dewey & Doris (Hart) Brooks. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Rickie was united in marriage to Kay Gross for 25 years and later married Lisa Slobodnik on October 31, 2002 in Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed watching the news and was very knowledge of history. Rickie was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. His most cherished times was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Lisa of Mt. Pleasant and his children, Vickie Brooks of Mt. Pleasant, Jeff (Jessica) Brooks of Mt. Pleasant, Doug (Sarah) Slobodnik of Mt. Pleasant and Amanda (Joe Russell) Brooks of Burlington, 9 grandchildren, Christian, Gabriel, Caleb, Teariny, Zachary, Savannah, James, Caireann and Colin, 2 brothers, Dave (Eva) Hewitt of Rushville, Illinois, Mike Brooks of Mt. Pleasant, 1 sister, Sue (John) Watts of Moravia, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Johnny Dirk.

Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant with Reverend Paul Connolly celebrating. Inurnment with full military honors will be conducted at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children Hospital or to the American Legion.
