Robert A. McCarty Jr., 37, of Birmingham, died on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Pedrick Funeral Home, in Keosauqua, with Larry Shipley officiating. Visitation with family will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. In accordance with his wishes, ...

Robert A. McCarty Jr., 37, of Birmingham, died on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Pedrick Funeral Home, in Keosauqua, with Larry Shipley officiating. Visitation with family will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 28321 Route J40, Keosauqua, Iowa 52565.
McCarty Jr. was born on Feb. 21, 1979, the son of Robert Sr. and Dovie Shuffler McCarty. He attended Harmony Schools. He married Ricki Boyd in April of 1998, in Farmington. They later divorced. He married Rachael Counts on Jan. 29, 2005, in Stockport.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and being a mechanic.
McCarty Jr. is survived by his parents; his wife, Rachael McCarty, of Hillsboro; two sons, with his first wife, Ricki, Clinton McCarty, of Farmington; and Austin McCarty, of Farmington; three brothers, Rick (Sierra) McCarty, of Fairfield; Richard (Cady) McCarty, of Richland; and Renny (Hannah) McCarty, of Selma; two step-sons, Dakota Haynes, of Hillsboro; and Deven Kite, of Cedar Rapids; and three grandmothers, Dorothy Cook, of Libertyville; Linda McCarty, of Bonaparte; and Vel Brereton, of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by three grandfathers, Richard McCarty; Lloyd Berereton; and Clarence Cook.
