Robert L. ?Bob? Dettman, 58, of Donnellson, died on Friday, July 15, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
According to his wishes, his body has been entrusted to the Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Robert L. ?Bob? Dettman, 58, of Donnellson, died on Friday, July 15, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Dettman was born on Aug. 24, 1957, in Burlington, the son of Louis Earl ?Louie? and Ethel Jane (Land) Dettman. He was a graduate of Central Lee High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He worked for Crandon Paper Mill, in Ft. Madison and the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a self-employed carpenter, roofer and painter in West Point and Hannibal, Mo., and he worked for Moeller Construction, in Franklin; Hulsebus Grain and Bins, in Donnellson; and at the Franklin Tap, in Franklin.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding Harleys, going to auctions and yard sales, and spending time with his family.
Dettman is survived by his two sisters, Cindy (Rod) White, of Burlington; and LouAnn Dettman, of Yachats, Ore., and previously of Donnellson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Alan Dale and Michael Earl.
