Rock Around the Block concert series hits the stage June 19

Local residents can kick the summer off with live music, food, beverages, games and activities for the whole family to enjoy in Mt. Pleasant?s Central Park starting Friday, June 19.
The Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce (MPACC) is getting ready to roll out the first of three Rock Around the Block community events for the summer of 2015 on Friday, June 19. Each event will start at 5:30 p.m., with the opening of food vendors, Budweiser and Pepsi tents, and kids activities.
Bands will take the stage from 6 to 10 p.m., including The Snakechasers; local artist, Nella Thomas; Flash in a Pan; and the Beaker Brothers. These events will take place on the north side of Central Park and are open to all ages at no charge.
The June 19 event will feature food from the Henry County Pork Producers. Budweiser beverages will be available for purchase to those 21 years of age and older. There will be music by the Snakechasers, a visit from Sweet Mimi the Clown, Dollar Train rides, various games, prizes, a kiddie pedal pull (weigh-in from 6 to 6:30 p.m.) and farm machinery on display.
The premier sponsor of the event is Henry County Farm Bureau. Other contributors are the Ag. Lenders from Community 1st Credit Union, Farm Credit Services of America, Pilot Grove Savings Bank, Two Rivers Bank and Trust, US Bank and Wayland State Bank.
Future Rock Around the Block events are set to take place in downtown Mt. Pleasant on Friday, June 19, Friday, July 24, and Friday, Aug. 21.
