The Washington County Extension Office held a Rockets Away day camp for 18 fourth- and fifth-graders at Marr Park on Tuesday, July 1.
The campers learned about Newton?s Laws of Motion. They were able to experiment with making their own rockets from everyday items. In the afternoon campers made a rocket from a 2-liter bottle. Some found their rocket would fly higher with a cone-shaped top, others added "fins" in order to make their rocket fly straighter. Helping that day were County Council members Grant Marek, Joceline Spenner, Keiffer Sexton, and Erin Chalupa.
