Reading program begins Wednesday in Libertyville
LIBERTYVILLE ? The congregation and youth of Faith United Methodist Church will offer a summer reading program beginning Wednesday for the youth of Libertyville and surrounding areas.
The program will be offered 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays through July 27 at the church.
?The community has generously donated an entire bookshelf of books to support this program,? said Bonnie Hilger, summer reading program coordinator. ?It?s exciting. We?ll be able to give kids free books, encourage families to get outdoors and read together by visiting our Little Lending Library, and have weekly story times to read, make reading crafts, and hear stories together at the church. Our goal is to get more books in the homes of children in an effort to improve their reading proficiency. We?re off to a good start.?
FaithUMC will kick off its summer reading program today with a freewill spaghetti supper served from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Donations for the meal will support the reading program and youth missions.
The ribbon cutting for the official opening of the church?s new Little Lending Library also is set for 7 p.m. today.
Everyone is invited to attend.
