Fairfield?s Emma Rosner scored all five goals in a 5-0 home win over Mt. Pleasant on Thursday.
The Panthers had a solid first half, trailing only 1-0 at the break.
?I think our play in the first half went well,? said Panther forward Catherine Prough. ?We got our legs going. We held possession most of the first half. I think that was the best defensive half we?ve had all season.?
In the first half, Fairfield only outshot the Panthers 10-9.
For the contest, the Trojans took 22 shots, Mt. Pleasant 13.
?Overall,? said Prough, ?the scoreboard doesn?t exactly show it, but I thought we had a really great game.?
Prough, for sure, was very solid, start to finish.
?We did try and pay a lot of attention to her,? said Trojan defender Corynn Klehm of Prough. ?You have to mark her up because she is very skilled.?
Prough also credited her teammates for helping put the pressure on Fairfield.
?Sydney Doak is always there crashing the net if a shot is missed,? Prough said. ?She had a very good game.
?And Liz Litchfield did an excellent job sweeping the field. She sent a lot of balls up to us.
?Skyler Melville had an incredible game overall, too.
?Our team, overall, did an excellent job working together.?
