'Run It Forward' coming to Washington

Saturday, Aug. 29 around 2 p.m. a three-time cancer ?warrior," Scott, will be coming into Washington for his first overnight stop on his 10-day run across the state of Iowa, "Run It Forward." Scott will be running ten marathons in ten days, with day one being his longest at 38 miles.

The Visitors and Tourism in Washington has reached out to the community and invited them to help welcome Scott on his journey by putting up yard signs, writing messages on the sidewalks, and joining him in Central Park to hear about the ?Why?? behind his mission. Businesses, churches, and families have all come forward to participate. The YMCA of Washington County has arranged for several runners to finish the last 10 to 15 miles of the run into town with Scott. To participate in the run, contact Becky Harkema at 653-2141.
