S.H.A.R.E. reveals August meal packages

Self Help And Resource Exchange, a nonprofit food-buying organization, is again offering meal packages at reduced costs in August through its volunteer-run distribution system.
Participants are not required to meet income guidelines, but it is requested that they volunteer two hours of their time toward community service of their own choosing. Examples include helping an organization, church, the S.H.A.R.E. program, visiting a shut-in, helping a neighbor or being involved with children?s school activities.
A total of 10 packages are available in August.
The August Best Value Package is offered for $25 and includes: seasoned chicken breast fillets, 1 pound; four boneless pork chops made by Omaha Steaks, 4 ounces each; fully cooked flame-broiled chopped beef steak, .74 pounds; turkey medallions, 12 ounces; instant mashed potatoes, 10 ounces; frozen sliced strawberries in sugar, 16 ounces; and fresh seasonal produce assortment.
Other packages include: pepperoni stuffed sandwiches, Italian sausage, Tyson chicken tenderloins, burritos, breaded shrimp, hickory smoked bacon and more.
Orders may be taken at St. Mary Catholic Church?s office and the SIEDA Head Start office, or online at www.shareiowa.org. For information about the program, call St. Mary Catholic Church at 472-3179 or SIEDA at 472-6140.
Orders and payment are due Aug. 12.
Pickup of food packages is at 8 a.m. Aug. 27 at Eagles Club.
