DIXON, Ill. ? Kristy Nystrom of rural Libertyville was the recipient of the Sauk Valley Community College Outstanding Alum award.

Nystrom is a physician?s assistant in radiology with Radiology Consultants of Iowa.

Nystrom graduated from Rock Falls High School in Rock Falls, Ill., in 1987. She earned an associate degree in radiologic technology at Sauk Valley Community College in 1989.

After graduation, she obtained a certificate in quality management in the mammography department at Wyoming Medical enter. She helped develop a women?s health center at the hospital. She was an associate instructor in the radiologic technology program at Casper College in Wyoming. She also was certified as a radiologic physician?s assistant in 2006. She supervises and mentors radiologic technology students.

Nystrom and her husband Dan have two children, Samantha and Caytlyn.
