Schedules change for Memorial Day holiday
Many area businesses, schools and government offices will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
No postal service will be available, and no mail will be delivered Monday.

Many area businesses, schools and government offices will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
No postal service will be available, and no mail will be delivered Monday.
Garbage collection in Fairfield will be delayed by one day all week. Residents who have a Monday collection date will have their trash picked up on Tuesday. Those with a Tuesday collection date will have theirs picked up on Wednesday, and so on.
Neither the Fairfield Community School District or the Van Buren Community School District will have classes Monday, and offices will be closed.
The offices in Pekin and Cardinal school districts also will be closed. The Pekin and Cardinal school districts have dismissed students for the summer.
The last day of school in Fairfield will be Tuesday, with a 2:30 p.m. dismissal.
The last day of school for Van Buren will be June 2.
Fairfield Public Library will be closed Sunday and Monday, and reopen Tuesday with its regular hours: 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 1-5 p.m. Saturday. According to its website, the library is closed on Sundays during the summer.
The Roosevelt Community Recreation Center will be open regular hours on the weekend: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Memorial Day, the facility will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The outdoor pool at the recreation center is set to open for the season on Wednesday.
No meals will be served Monday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center or Lockridge Senior Center. Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable or frozen meals.
City, county, state and federal offices will be closed Monday.
The Fairfield Ledger newspaper will not be published Monday, and the office will not be open.
Before heading out Monday, call ahead to check on schedules.
