Colton Schneider of Riverside recently received a $500 scholarship from the Washington County Master Gardeners. Schneider plans to continue his education at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids and study Turf Management.
The Washington County Master Gardeners provide educational programs and are responsible for maintaining the gardens and plants at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Their annual plant sale each May helps fund the scholarship offered to a deserving Washington County resident pursuing a horticultural related degree or certificate from a college or university in the state of Iowa.
For more information on the Master Gardener program contact the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811. A new Master Gardener training class will be held in September.
