4-H?ers involved in the beef project area are encouraged to attend the second session of the Beef Workshop Series on March 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington County Extension Office.
With the assistance of the 4-H and Youth Committee, the beef department is offering several educational opportunities this year to improve and further develop the beef projects for 4-H'ers in Washington County. Different topic areas will be covered at each meeting while a variety of producers and volunteers will be available for a question-and-answer-panel session at each meeting as well.
On March 8 the 4-H livestock judging coach will help 4-H'ers understand key terms in evaluating their calves and important parts on the calf body. This terminology is helpful when 4-H'ers are listening to judges? feedback, evaluating shows themselves, or preparing their calves for exhibition.
Other beef experts will share tips on what training 4-H'ers should be doing now and leading up to the fair with their beef projects.
These workshops are open to all 4-H'ers. Parents are encourage to attend.
Questions may be directed to Amy at the Washington County Extension Office, 319/653-4811.
