See how he loved him

Jesus wept ? bellowed death ? was deeply moved

John 11:33 reads, ?then Mary, when she came where Jesus was and saw him, fell at his feet, saying to him, ?Lord, if you had been here my brother wouldn?t have died.? When Jesus saw her weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled; and he said, ?Where have you laid him?? They said to him, ?Lord, come and see.? Jesus wept. So the Jews said, ?See how he loved him.??

Having been drawn into these words ?Jesus wept. ? Jesus was deeply moved? I was given a picture of a mother who is loving her children as Jesus loved Lazarus. I was given a picture of a mother who is now caring for her daughter?s child because she does not want her son. I was given a picture of a mother who has suffered the divorce of her son and who now suffers because her other son is in prison.

I could tell you of other heart aches but I am not going to do that. What I am going to tell you is . . .

Like Jesus she finds herself raging against death; not against her son but against death; not with a sword but with nails in her hands and heart; not with judgment but with pain and suffering within her heart. She is not running from the tomb, from the grave, from heartache, or from suffering. Rather she is placing herself into the grave in order that her children might be restored and know that God loves them.

Because of this ? she invited me to write to her son in order that he might be moved to say ? God really loves me. I am thankful that God?s heart has been deeply moved.

I share this with you because my prayer is that you are a living witness to Christ?s love. My prayer is that you are living out the words ?Jesus wept.? Jesus was deeply moved. Jesus bellowed death.
