SEISO to perform Sunday in Mt. Pleasant

Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra (SEISO) will present three concerts in Ottumwa, Burlington, and Mt. Pleasant on March 19 and 20 featuring Velvet Brown, and the works of three female composers.
The Mt. Pleasant concert is the third and final of the bunch, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Iowa Wesleyan Chapel Auditorium.
Brown is an internationally renowned tuba soloist, and a professor of music in tuba and associate director for equity, diversity and inclusion in the School of Music at Penn State.
The concert will feature Louise Farrenc’s fiery Symphony No. 2, Emma Lou Diemer’s inspiring brass fanfare, Declamation, Barbara York’s Tuba Concerto “Wars and Rumors of War”, and Paul Hindemith’s tour de force, Symphonic Metamorphosis on a Theme by Weber.
