Seneca program hopes to reduce injuries from falls
Seneca Area Agency on Aging is providing a program titled ?A Matter of Balance,? with a goal to reduce the number of Iowans who have injuries due to falling.
Classes will be held at the senior center in Sigourney. Classes are held from 9-11 a.m. twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for four weeks from Oct. 4-27.
The registration fee is $10.

Seneca Area Agency on Aging is providing a program titled ?A Matter of Balance,? with a goal to reduce the number of Iowans who have injuries due to falling.

The award-winning program from Boston University is supported by funds from the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, Iowa Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Seneca Area Agency on Aging.
The program is specifically designed to reduce falling, stop the fear of falling and improve activity levels among older adults.
According to Seneca officials, there are 444,294 Iowans over the age of 65 and falls are the leading cause of injury and death with the highest rate in those over the age of 84.
