ServSafe training registration due Tuesday

ServSafe, the national certification program for food service managers and workers is scheduled Aug. 13 at the Jefferson County ISU Extension and Outreach office; registration is required by Tuesday.
Class is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The cost of the course is $150 and includes the class time, a manual, and the national certification exam.
Anyone interested in preparing and serving safe food is welcome to attend. The course is required currently by some companies including restaurants, hospitals, schools, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. The program meets Certified Food Protection Manager requirements.
Topics include: providing safe food; contamination and food allergens; The Safe Food Handler; Flow of Food: purchasing, Receiving, Storage; Flow of Food: Preparation and Service; cleaning and sanitizing; pest management; facilities and equipment; food safety management systems.
A photo ID is required to take the certification exam. A retest-option only is available for $50.
