Nonie Shafer of Fairfield celebrated her 100th birthday on January 1, 2026! Nonie grew up in Davenport, Iowa and later met Wesley Shafer of Fairfield. They were married in June of 1950 and made their home in Fairfield. Nonie became a farm wife even though she was scared to death of the cows and pigs. She grew to love her little Jersey cows and learned to milk.
Together she and Wesley raised two daughters, Sarah and Melissa. She gained a son when Sarah married Tony Halsey on the same date, 44 years later, that she and Wesley married. Nonie loved living on the farm and caring for the animals and her flower garden. She did lots of cooking, baking and canning of produce over the years. Nonie also loved going to auctions and finding antiques and treasures.
Please help us celebrate Nonie by sending her your greetings! Cards and notes may be sent to Nonie at 1814 Osage Ave, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.
