SHARE food orders due Feb. 10

Orders are due before Feb. 10 for the SHARE Iowa Inc. food packages available this month.

Orders can be placed locally by calling the Sieda Community Action office at 472-6140 or Claudia Greenig at 472-3569.

Pickup will be at 8 a.m. Feb. 25 at the Fairfield Eagles Club.

Several different packages are available; participants can purchase one or more in any combination.

The $28 Best Value Package includes: a 1.5-pound Hormel lemon garlic pork loin, 9-ounce sliced turkey breast, two 16-ounce beef shepherd?s pie, 1 pound of ready-to-cook breaded chicken tenders, 16 ounces of frozen vegetable, five three-count packs of Otis Spunkmeyer chocolate chip mini muffins; 24 ounces of shelf stable 2 percent white milk; russet potatoes, green leaf lettuce, cucumber, roma tomatoes, apples, oranges and cantaloupe.

The $14.50 Grocery Package includes: 16 ounces of frozen vegetable, five three-count packs of Otis Spunkmeyer chocolate chip mini muffins; 24 ounces of shelf stable 2 percent white milk; russet potatoes, green leaf lettuce, cucumber, roma tomatoes, apples, oranges and cantaloupe.

The $14.50 Meat-Only Package includes: a 1.5-pound Hormel lemon garlic pork loin, 9-ounce sliced turkey breast, two 16-ounce beef shepherd?s pie, 1 pound of ready-to-cook breaded chicken tenders.

The $24 Pantry Box includes: 24 ounces of pasta sauce, 16 ounces rigatoni, 6 ounces mashed potatoes, 6 ounces scalloped potatoes, 8.5 ounces corn muffin mix, 6.9 ounces chicken rice side, 5 ounce can of tuna, 15 ounces mac and beef, 14.5 ounce green beans, 15 ounce mixed vegetables, 15 ounces sloppy joe sauce, 15 ounce mixed fruit, 15 ounces pear slices, 10 ounces mandarin oranges, 14 ounces oatmeal, 10 ounces brownie mix, four 4-ounce applesauce, 32 ounce shelf stable 2 percent white milk.

The $22.50 Boneless Pork Chops Box includes: 15 6-ounce boneless pork chops.

The $24 Breaded Chicken Tenders Box includes: two 5-pound bags of fully cooked chicken tenders.

The $20.50 Salmon Filets Box includes: 3 pounds individually quick frozen skin-on wild-caught salmon filets.

Participants who order one of the main food packages also have the option to order ?choice? items.

The choice items for February are:

? A $24 breakfast sandwiches box, with 24 5.5-ounce Schwans sausage, egg and cheese biscuit sandwiches.

? A $13 mini cheese pack, with two 8-ounces of string cheese and two 9-ounces of cheese curds..

? An $18 pepperoni pizza box, with 20 5-ounce pepperoni pizzas with wheat crust.

? A $16.50 spiral ham package, with an approximate 6- to 7-pound Ripple Creek bone-in spiral ham netted with spice pack.

Food packages are subject to changes.

SHARE Iowa Inc. is a nonprofit food buying group that offers good, nutritious products at a reduced cost through a volunteer-run, community-based distribution system.

Everyone is welcome to participate; there are no membership fees and no income guidelines. But because part of the focus of SHARE is to promote volunteer service, participants are encouraged to spend some time volunteering with an activity of their choice to help make their community a better place.
