Cornerstone Community Well is hosting an open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its office, 1208 S. Fifth St.
Cornerstone Community Well invites everyone to 'Share in a Piece of the Pie” and show support for neighbors challenged by financial crisis.
In exchange for a donation, visitors can select a pie to take home.
Bakers from local churches will be supplying the pies.
While at the 'Share in a Piece of the Pie” open house, visitors are encouraged to engage in a tour, learning more about the interview process and observing the space allocated for life-skills workshops. Visitors can learn first-hand how their donations will make a difference in the lives of others.
Plus, 10 percent of the proceeds from the event will be donated to area veterans in honor of their service.
'The idea is they can learn about Cornerstone Community Well, take a pie home and share what they've learned about CCW while they share a piece of pie with family and friends,” said Carol Meyers, director of CCW.
Meyers has explained CCW is not a hand-out, but a hand-up as it helps applicants learn to manage their funds by setting up a budget, how to stretch their funds and more.
Aside from needing funding, CCW also needs volunteers. Email ccw@lisco.com to learn more about volunteering.
