Sheets/Sheetz family reunion held

The 96th annual Sheets/Sheetz reunion was held July 26, 2015, at Lagos Acres Country Club in Keota. Forty-seven family members attended and enjoyed the bountiful meal and visiting. Pictures of previous reunions were shared, and letters and a family tree sent by Quentin Schuetz of Illinois were read and shared. This young man has found many similarities between his ancestors and the Sheets/Sheetz ancestors. The immigrant ancestors Gottfried and Peter Sch?tz left their farms in the Rhineland of Germany in the 1860s and their families settled in Washington and Keokuk County in Iowa and Washington County in Illinois. Births, marriages, and deaths were recorded in the family history book. The oldest family member attending was Bill Cady (90) and the youngest was Zoe-Jane Sheetz.

Those attending from the Harold and Mary Sheets family were Mark and Diane Sheets, Luann and Kevin Cave, Cindy Detweiler and Ron Northup, and Kathy Scott and Dakota Detweiler of Keota; Gloria Sheets Lawrence of Coralville, Joey Sheets and Trey of Hiawatha, and Tyler Sheets and Katie Etter of Talleyrand. Jerry and Rita Sheetz of Keota represented the Hubert and Philomena Sheetz family.

From the Leland Sheetz family, Julie Sheetz Wells of West Chester, Jade Halvorsen and Summit of Leadville, Colorado, Jim and Angie Sheetz with A.J. and Emily, and Kyle Sheetz and Zoe-Jane of Keota, and Cory Sheetz of Washington attended.

Andy and Florence Sheetz?s family included Cheryl Dahlquist, Pauline and Bill Cady, Jim and Ginger Sheetz, and Steve Sheetz of Keota; Margene and John Erlenbush of Ainsworth; David Davison of Brashear, Missouri; Glenn and Ashley Johnson and Kinsley of Edina, Missouri; Pat and Karmen Cady, Chase, Wyatt, and Delaney of Wellman; Karen Teitsworth of Washington; Tony Northup and Taylor of Brighton; and Nicole Teitsworth and Alex Abbott of Boone.

The 97th annual reunion will be held the last Sunday in July of 2016. The date is July 31, 2016, at the Lagos Acres Country Club.
