Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office investigated a call at 12:38 a.m. Saturday at Highway 1 and the Van Buren County line at Birmingham. Zachary Ray Louth, 19 of Birmingham was arrested at 2:10 a.m. at 1200 W. Grimes Ave., charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, Ecstasy; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, marijuana.

Sheriff deputies responded to a vehicle accident at 7:42 p.m. Sunday at Highway 34 and Highway 1. Stephen Charlie Smith, 69 of Batavia, was driving a 1994 Ford Explorer west on Exit 212 ramp and sideswiped the north guardrail with the passenger side of his vehicle. The vehicle went across two westbound lanes and hit the south guardrail with the front of his vehicle. He was cited for failure to maintain control.
