Reviewing Medicare Part D drug coverage with a Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) counselor can save seniors? money while helping them get the medicines they need. SHIIP is a free, confidential service of the State of Iowa that provides unbiased information to help Iowans make decisions about Medicare and other health coverage.
Medicare?s annual open-enrollment period ends Monday, Dec. 7. During this time, participants can enroll in Medicare prescription drug plans, make changes to their plans or drop prescription coverage.
SHIIP can help clients:
?Check eligibility for Part D Extra Help
?Check their Part D or Medicare Advantage plans to ensure their drugs are covered at the lowest cost and with the least amount of restrictions
?Review employer drug coverage and compare it to other Medicare options
?Understand drug-plan options
Volunteer SHIIP counselors complete extensive training. They meet with clients only by appointment at Great River Medical Center, Great River Klein Center and Great River Clinic, Wapello.
