Fifty-five Washington County 4-H youth showed livestock at the Iowa State Fair.
Several champions and reserve champions were earned by Washington county exhibitors in the beef, goat, rabbit, and swine departments.
?Youth gain so many positive skills by exhibiting livestock both at the county and state level,? said Amy Green, Washington County 4-H/youth coordinator. ?The dedication, responsibility, decision-making and leadership they develop can prepare them for careers that use these skills. Those who exhibit at the state level are exposed to many others in the industry and learn more with those contacts as well. We are proud so many youth and families want and can be a part of that experience.?
See tomorrow?s paper for results and more photos from the state fair.
