Six area high schoolers receive Access Energy scholarships

Six area high school students were recently named as recipients of the 2020 Access Energy Cooperative scholarship program. Receiving a $1500 award each were Chloe Davidson of Birmingham, Jacob Lamartine of Donnellson, Ryan Rebling of Brighton, Abigail Ryon of Mt. Pleasant, Isabella Smith of Danville, and Alexa Wenger of Mt. Pleasant.
Chloe Davidson, daughter of Rusty and Judy Davidson, will graduate from Van Buren County High School and plans to attend the William Penn University to major in Accounting.
Jacob Lamartine, son of Frank Lamartine and Brenda Mansheim, will graduate from Central Lee High School and plans to attend the University of Iowa to earn a degree in in Cinema/Marketing.
Ryan Rebling, son of Jared and Marikay Rebling, has been home schooled and plans to attend Indian Hills Community College to pursue a career in Diesel technology.
Abigail Ryon, daughter Joel and Heidi Ryon, will graduate from Mt. Pleasant Community High School and plans to attend the University of Iowa to major in Health and Human Physiology.
Isabella Smith, daughter of Chris and Kristin Smith, will graduate from Danville Community High School and plans to attend the University of Iowa to pursue a degree in Business Marketing and in Management.
Alexa Wenger, daughter of Jon and Ginger Wenger, will graduate from New London Community High School and plans to attend Kirkwood Community College to study Occupational Therapy.
Access Energy Cooperative awards six $1500 scholarships each year, two in each of its three districts. The parents or guardians of the applicant must be members of Access Energy Cooperative. Winners are chosen based on their academics, achievements, community involvement, and a submitted essay.
Access Energy Cooperative is as rural distribution electric cooperative, providing power to homes, farms, business and industry in 10 southeast Iowa counties.
