Sixth-ranked Tiger softball team gets past Lone Tree at home

NEW LONDON ? The sixth-ranked New London softball team stayed unbeaten at home on Wednesday night with an 8-4 win over Lone Tree.
The Tigers started the scoring early with a couple of runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. After a one-run Lion fourth cut the lead to one run, New London tacked on four runs in the fourth to make it 6-1.

NEW LONDON ? The sixth-ranked New London softball team stayed unbeaten at home on Wednesday night with an 8-4 win over Lone Tree.
The Tigers started the scoring early with a couple of runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. After a one-run Lion fourth cut the lead to one run, New London tacked on four runs in the fourth to make it 6-1.
Lone Tree didn?t go down without a fight. The Lions scored three more runs in the fifth inning to bring the score to 6-4. New London, however, added two insurance runs in the sixth inning and the Lions would never recover.
Jade Christensen had perfect night at the plate, going 3-3 with two runs scored. Morgan Christner was 2-4 and led the team with three RBIs. Carson McSorely went 1-2 with one RBI and two runs scored and Josten Boyer was 1-4 with an RBI.
Camryn Blint started the game for New London and picked up the win, throwing five and two-thirds innings and giving up four earned runs on nine hits and no walks, while striking out four batters.
Christner came in for the final four outs and allowed no hits and no walks, while striking out three.
The Tigers moved to 11-4 overall with the win and will be back in action tonight at Louisa-Muscatine for a game starting at 7 p.m.
