The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of north central Illinois, northwest Illinois, west central Illinois, east central Iowa, northeast Iowa, southeast Iowa, including Jefferson County, and northeast Missouri.
A weak storm system will spread light snow over the region late today and tonight. Snowfall amounts of 1 to near 2 inches are likely northwest of a line from Belle Plaine to Dubuque, with totals less than 1 inch possible elsewhere.
A prolonged period of snow is expected over much of the area Saturday afternoon through Sunday night.
By Monday morning, snowfall amounts could range from a couple of inches near Highway 20 to around 6 inches from northeast Missouri into west central Illinois.
Very cold temperatures will remain over the area this weekend. Wind chills in the minus 10 to around minus 25 range are expected Saturday night and Sunday night.
