Soil health and cover crop field day to be held
A Soil Health and Cover Crop Field Day will be held at Walker Seeds Corp at 1575 W. 5th Street in Washington from 9 a.m.-12:15.p.m., Nov. 19. A Soil Health and Cover Crop Field Day will be held at Walker Seeds Corp at 1575 W. 5th Street in Washington from 9 a.m.-12:15.p.m., Nov. 19. Roger Harrington will share his experience with diversifying cover crops the last six years. Ryan Walker and Jeff Olson will have their cover crop seeding equipment on display. A presentation will be done by ISU Extension agronomist, Meaghan Anderson. She will provide management and termination options for cover crops. NRCS Soil Scientist, Jason Steele, will discuss soil health and benefits with a cover cropping system. Washington NRCS, Tony Maxwell will present cost-share opportunities for cover crops through state and watershed funding. A local beginner cover cropper question-and-answer panel will finish up the field day.
Parking may be limited. Lunch will be provided by the Washington County Farm Bureau. Please call Dan Mahoney at the Washington NRCS Office at 319-653-6654 to reserve your spot for lunch.
