CLOVER KIDS
The Jefferson County Fairfield 4-H Clover Kids met 5:15-6:15 p.m. Thursday April 12 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.
Twenty-four members made caterpillars using clothespins, multi-color pom-poms, chenille stems and movable eyes. To make maracas, members added rice or died beans to plastic eggs, glued on a stick handle and decorated the eggs with colorful stickers. Each also chose cut strips of material to make a braided snake. These can be ideas for the members to enter at the Jefferson County Fair in June.
Members are making a scrapbook page to go in the Clover Kids scrapbook, which will be entered at the county fair. If a member didn?t bring a completed page to the April meeting, they are asked to bring it to the meeting May 10. A cardstock page, cut to the size of the book, was issued at the March and April meetings.
For a snack, the group made caterpillar cracker snacks, adding frosting and colorful marshmallows to their crackers, with water to drink.
As a community service project, members and adult helpers put on protective rubber gloves and picked up trash on the fairgrounds.
Helping with the activities were Juanita Bray, Ella Cass, Karen Crossland, Phyllis Harris, Eileen and Heather Pickard, Tom Gerleman, Carrie Steele, John Sandbothe and Leland and Shirley Stanley.
The next meeting will be from 5:15-6:15 p.m. May 10 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
