Founders and organizers of Sound of Washington held a kickoff party at Washington Mennonite Church on March 31.
Sound of Washington is an adult special needs choir open to all individuals older than 14 years of age. The singers and their helpers gather together weekly to sing fun, familiar songs from all decades and work toward preparing concerts for the community.
The singers are in the midst of weekly rehearsals at 6 p.m. Monday nights in April at Washington Mennonite Church. They love to sing and they love to perform for audiences.
The tour begins Sunday, May 3, with a concert at 9:30 a.m. at Bethel Mennonite Church. On Tuesday, May 12, they will sing for the Washington Lions Club. Brighton Church of God will host the singers at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 17. They will be at Halcyon House on Tuesday, May 19, at 6 p.m. They will travel to the United Presbyterian Home for a concert at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 31.
On Saturday, June 6, the Sound of Music will perform at Ridiculous Day in Washington, with the time to be announced. On Thursday, June 11, they will perform at the Washington Farmers? Market at a time to be announced later. The final concert will be during the Relay for Life event at 2:30 p.m. on June 13.
Not only will the Sound of Washington fill the air with music, they will also reach out to each member of the audience with joy and exhilaration.
