Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm to hold Fall Field Day

CRAWFORDSVILLE – Farmers, farmer advisers and the general public are invited to attend the Iowa State University Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm’s fall field day on Sept. 9 beginning at 1:30 p.m.

To reach the farm, follow U.S. Highway 218 1.75 miles south of Crawfordsville, then two miles east on county road G-62, then three-quarters of a mile north. Signs will be posted to guide attendees to the event.

The field day will feature the following stops and topics:

Research Farm and Association Updates by Cody Schneider, Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm manager, and Duane Jordan, past president/board member of the Southeast Iowa Agricultural Research Association.

Utilizing Tile Drainage to Increase Productivity by Matt Helmers, professor and agricultural engineering specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.

Corn Rootworm Management Strategies and Demo by Erin Hodgson, professor in entomology and extension specialist in entomology at Iowa State University.

Integrated Weed Management Strategies in Soybeans by Prashant Jha, associate professor and extension weeds specialist at Iowa State.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to discuss concerns and ask questions with each of the speakers at their respective tour stops.

Registration starts at 1 p.m. with the field day beginning at 1:30 p.m. Certified Crop Adviser continuing education credits will be available. This field day is free and open to the public with no pre-registration required.
