?Why People Act the Way They Do? begins Sunday
The Rev. Howard Innis, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, is starting a five-part sermon series titled ?Why People Act The Way They Do, Including You? Sunday at the church.
Each session will be presented at 6 p.m. each Sunday through April 3.
Sunday: ?Our humanity (Humanness).? There is nothing wrong with what it means to live in the flesh. Being human is normal. People need to understand and embrace their humanity as part of God?s plan for us on this side of eternity.
March 20: ?Our Maleness and Femaleness.? God created two genders: male and female. People get along better when they understand the differences between the two.
March 27: ?Our Heritage and Culture (World view).? The way you grew up and the atmosphere and climate in your home and community has had a great influence on how you do business today. Some call this ?having a world view,? others call it ?our traditions;? the way people see things; respond to things; etc. Tradition has a way of causing people to hang onto things when in fact life calls us to change and move forward. People need to understand when to change; what to change and how to change.
April 3: ?Our Temperaments (Personality Types).? God made each of us with a certain personality type. There are people who are outgoing. There are people who are not outgoing. This does not make either better then the other, just different. The differences between these temperaments has caused a lot of relational damage to marriages, to businesses, to churches, and to families. Learning the differences and understanding the strengths and weaknesses can help us get along with people better.
April 10: ?Our Spirituality.? Spirituality has to do with the eternal aspect of our life and living. People were created to live forever and to be in relationship with God. Sin disrupted that part of Adam and Eve?s life. God sent his son to rescue the world. Understanding the inner working of the spiritual will serve to give hope and help to each and every one. A person?s spiritual condition has a profound effect on the way people act and the things people do, including you.
