Pioneers defeat Harmony to earn second victory

The Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment boys? basketball team won at Harmony 68-43 Thursday.

The Pioneers (2-12) have now beaten Harmony twice this season. MSAE dominated the second and third quarters, outscoring Harmony 41-20 during the span.

Surya Sawhney led the way with 20 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Giovanni Cingire finished with 19 points, five steals and two rebounds.

MSAE visits Burlington Notre Dame tonight.

Fort Madison gets best of eighth grade boys team

The Fairfield eighth grade boys? basketball A team lost to Fort Madison 32-27 Thursday.

?This was a tough fought game,? coach Tony Vandegriff said. ?Fort Madison got the loose balls and rebounds at the right times last night.?

Kolton Webber scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. James Lyman finished with five points, two steals and two assists. Steeler Higdon finished with two points and eight rebounds.

The B team won 18-9. Hunter Drish scored six points. Jordan Guezmannie put in five points.

Cardinal, Pekin lose duals

The Pekin and Cardinal High School and wrestling teams both lost two duals Thursday.

Pekin traveled to Lone Tree and was defeated 51-12. Chance Searcy (132) won in 32 seconds and Trenton Conger (220) earned points through a forfeit. Conger got three points during his match against Mediapolis, but the team lost 78-3 in that dual.

Cardinal and Louisa-Muscatine were part of a triangular in Wapello Thursday.

Cardinal fell 42-36 to Louisa-Muscatine. Bryce Benedict (120), Dakota Miller (145), Tyler Albert (160), Josh Ramos (182) and Ryan Cale (113) all earned points by forfeit. Drayton Hamm (106) pinned his opponent in 50 seconds.

Cardinal lost to Wapello 37-27. Cale won by decision, while Albert pinned Ryan Schaffer of Wapello in 1:20. Jonathon Rupe (195) pinned Richie Noa of Wapello in 1:34.
