Start planning your vegetable garden at the Richland library
Feb. 9, 2022 2:29 pm
The Richland Public Library will host Master Gardeners Barbara Bombei and Donna Baker, who will speak about growing vegetables on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 1-2 p.m. in the Richland Public Library’s meeting room. This free program is open to the public.
Barbara and Donna are sisters from Richland with many years of combined gardening experience. They became certified Master Gardeners through the Iowa State University’s Extension and Outreach program, which requires attendance at educational programs as well as additional volunteer hours. Their love of flowers and growing their own vegetables is a passion for them. Early every spring they take a day and visit area nurseries, an annual tradition they look forward to.
Their presentation will offer information and tips to everyone from the novice gardener starting their first vegetable garden to the seasoned gardener. They’ll discuss various types of vegetable gardens, garden placement, the tools needed, and what to plant. Participants will be able to ask questions and share their own “pro” tips.
This is a collaborative program with the Keokuk County Extension and Outreach in Sigourney. For more information, call 319-456-6541 or email the library at richlib@natel.net.
