Iowa State Patrol responded to an accident at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Dewberry Avenue and Highway 34. According to the accident report, a 1991 International liquid fertilizer cargo tank driven by Gary Lee Watson, 75, of Mount Pleasant, stopped southbound on Dewberry and then pulled into the path of a westbound 1998 International semitrailer driven by George Robert Thibault, 61, of Albia. As he attempted to cross the westbound lanes, Watson did not see Thibault. Both vehicles came to rest in the median, where Thibault?s trailer detached and overturned, spilling its load of grain. Estimated damages are $25,000 to the vehicle driven by Watson and $85,000 to the vehicle driven by Thibault.
