FT. DODGE ? The brackets are all set for the Class 1A softball tournament in Ft. Dodge next week. The action kicks off on Monday, July 16, and all of the Class 1A games will take place in the late morning and early afternoon.
New London will be playing as the No. 7 seed. Their opponent, Akron-Westfield, finished the season ranked No. 3 in Class 1A. The Tigers? game will be on Buena Vista University field at 1 p.m. with the other game in the bottom half of the bracket starting on Diamond 2 at 1:30 p.m.
On the other field, it will be third-seeded AGWSR (Ackley-Geneva-Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock) against sixth-seeded Janesville. AGWSR was ranked No. 4 in the final softball rankings. Janesville, like New London, finished the year unranked.
On the top side of the bracket, top-seeded Collins-Maxwell will take on eighth-seeded Newell-Fonda. Collins-Maxwell was ranked No. 2 in the final rankings, while Newell-Fonda finished the year unranked.
The winner of that game takes on the winner of No. 4 Lisbon vs. No. 5 Martensdale-St. Marys. Lisbon was ranked No. 9 in the final Class 1A rankings and Martensdale-St. Mary?s clocked in at No. 11.
