The 69th annual Stockport Lions Stockport BBQ Days is planned today, Friday, through Sunday, Sept. 6-8, in Stockport.
The theme for this year's celebration is 'Power of Partnership.”
Events kick off at 6 p.m. today with the coed softball tournament. The tournament continues through Sunday. For information, call Meghan Snyder at 641-919-5932.
Weigh-in for the truck pull is at 6:30 p.m. today, with the pull starting at 7 p.m. For information, call Jeff Rubey at 641-919-4494.
Food will be available for purchase beginning at 6 p.m. today at the Saddle Club Park. Food also will be available all day and evening Saturday at the Saddle Club Park.
The Stockport Depot, which features a display of local history, will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Prince and Princess Contest will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
At 10 a.m., a cake walk is planned on Main Street, along with a leg contest and games.
The parade is set for 10:30 a.m., with the presentation of the parade marshal. Dena Clark can answer questions about the parade at 641-919-7997.
A Bestest Dog Contest is set for 11:30 a.m.
Weigh-in for the tractor pull is at 11:30 a.m., with the pull starting at 12:30 p.m. Call Rubey for details. A Great Rivers Pull will follow the tractor pull.
Lunch will be served at noon at the Stockport American Legion Hall.
The afternoon will be filled with kids games, and a chance to win a bicycle, and an Iowa sanctioned pedal-tractor pull. The pedal pull and the games start at 12:30 p.m.
An eating contest is planned for 6 p.m. on Main Street. Contestants 18 years old and older can compete in eating jalapeno peppers and chocolate chip cookies.
Sunday will feature a car show, with registration from 10 a.m. to noon.
Lunch will be at noon on Main Street.
