The Halloween Carnival, sponsored by the Stockport Development, was busy Saturday night at the Legion Hall, with many children playing games, breaking piñatas, and getting prizes with tickets they won at the games.
The winners for the costume contest were: Ugliest Costume ? first place, Abby Cook of Birmingham and second place, Alex Watson of Stockport; Cutest Costume ? first place, Emma Phelps of Stockport and second place, Alyssa Owens of Stockport; Best Character Costume ? first place, Jonah Heckenberg of Stockport, and second place, Megan Heisel of Stockport; Most Original ? first place, Hannah Hunt of Stockport, and second place, Dean Phelps of Stockport; Scariest Costume ? first place, Treyton Bainbridge of Stockport, and second place, Jacob Worley of Birmingham; Best Overall went to Ashlyn Owens of Stockport.

Monday night found many trick-or-treaters out and about collecting candy while it was still light outside. Many stopped at City Park for hotdogs and marshmallows roasted over a fire and hot cocoa.

Stockport City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at city hall. To address the council at that time, call city hall at 319-796-2135 24 hours in advance to get on the agenda.

Voting for the Stockport city elections will be Tuesday at the Stockport Legion Hall.
Frank Nelson and Brian Heisel are running for the mayor position. Jane Becker, Matt Tucker, Danette Thele, Richard Giberson and Annie Buzzard are running for two council seats up for election.

The Stockport Library is open rom 3-6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursdays Several new children?s books, murder mystery books and some new large-print books have been added.

The Birmingham library board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the library.

The Birmingham Methodist church board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

The Red Hat Ladies will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for lunch at the United Methodist church in Stockport.
The hostesses are Marilyn Boley and JoAnn Shoemaker.

The Birmingham United Methodist Church will have a fall supper at 5 p.m. Nov. 12 at the church. An auction will be at 7 p.m.
