Student awarded $1,000 scholarship

The Washington Soil and Water Conservation District is pleased to announce the winner of the 2015 Dean Gerot Memorial Conservation Scholarship. The winner was selected from applicants across the county. The scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing further education in fields of agriculture or natural resources. Selection is based on leadership, academic achievement, and service.

This year?s scholarship was awarded to Macy Marek. Macy will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Macy is the daughter of Heather and Tim Marek of Riverside. Macy will attend Iowa State University and pursue a degree in agriculture business/agriculture education. Her application was forwarded on to regional and state competition.
