Students advance to state contest

The Mid-Prairie High School speech team competed at the Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) Individual Events District contest at Tri-County, Saturday, March 1. Fourteen of the team?s 19 entries received ?1? ratings and will advance to State competition March 15 at North Scott.

Advancing are: Aleigha Gugel (Storytelling), Ciana Carr (Prose), Jonah VanRoekel (Solo Musical Theater and Improv), Hannah VanRoekel (Storytelling and After Dinner Speaking), Haylee Marner (Acting and Literary Program), Mycailah Salvador (Solo Musical Theater), Jessie Teets (Prose), Brennyn Hawbaker (Literary Program), Mike Meserole (Poetry), Madisen Nielsen (Expository Address) and Cathy Meserole (Solo Musical Theater).
